Baby Cashmerino, by Debbie Bliss
Baby Cashmerino is a well known classic. Soft and gentle against the skin, it is the perfect sport-weight fiber for babies and children.
Surprising as it is that anything containing cashmere could go in the washing machine, but despite its gentle hand this is a no-fuss, no-stress yarn. The definition from its high-energy twist and uniform texture shows off stitches to their best advantage.
The range of colors cover two different moods for children: On one hand are bright, playful primaries and jewel tones, and on the other is a muted, sophisticated palette for folks who want to portray softness or innocence but not necessarily with traditional baby colors. They also offer great choices for "gender-neutral" colors.
Below are photos of the aptly-named "Baseball Jacket," which happily is a free pattern online. On the left is a version we actually have to look at and feel right here in Argyle, and on the right is a photograph from Debbie Bliss. It recreates the look of classic letterman jackets, which have been around since the 1930s. The sizes go from 3 months all the way up to a four-year-old. Many people who've made it have customized the colors to match their favorite sports team or worked in the initials of their little one over the left chest where the school's letter would have been.
Here we have some other charming designs for little kids from the Debbie Bliss design team, all featuring Baby Cashmerino: A stunning "Fair Isle Outfit," the "Cabled Slipover," a "Smock Coat," and a cabled sweater vest. There are many Debbie Bliss patterns that provide great ideas for people who are frustrated with a lack of fun patterns to knit for boys.
And here we have a few women's patterns I wanted folks to see essentially as a reminder that you can use this yarn with any sport weight pattern you want. You don't have to be newborn to want to wear a lightweight garment that's soft to the touch!
First we have two simple, classic-lined light sweaters, the "Ribbed Batwing Sweater," and the "Contrast Edge Cardigan." Then we've got two stunning color work masterpieces, the "V-Neck Fair Isle Sweater," and the Leg Warmers. It's really fun to see the different color combinations people came up with for their own version of the sweater.

Baby Cashmerino Tonals, by Debbie Bliss
A new direction for Debbie Bliss, the Tonals takes the classic Baby Cashmerino and subtly shades the colors from light to dark.
Below are two versions of the same sweater from the Debbie Bliss team, the "Rainbow Sweater." Not a self-striping yarn, rather you alternate between six different colors, to create this sunny, spirited pullover. The combination of the cheerful, bright colors of childhood blended with the variegation we associate with hand dyes lends a surprisingly sophisticated look.

Lastly, we can see below more samples of Baby Cashmerino Tonals: A frill-edged cardigan, a spotty cardi, a simple tank, and a lace-edged sweater. Enjoy!
