Gusto, by Berroco
A thick-and-thin wool-acrylic blend, Gusto knits up quickly—perfect for big accessories or home decor items. Choose from Berroco's bold and colorful, or, quiet and sophisticated shades. Gusto is similar to a yarn we've discussed before, Brio, except Gusto is a little more subdued in that it doesn't have the sparkle, and the color transitions are a little milder. Anyone whose been frustrated that their stitch tension has been a little inconsistent will find this yarn extremely forgiving, as any change in tension looks deliberate! |
Here's a cowl we've knit up right here at Argyle done in a pattern called the Blackberry Blossom. It takes two skeins and wraps around twice, and here we've tucked it all in around the neck, nice and cozy so it looks very thick indeed. You can see how there's really no need for too much detail in the stitches with this yarn. A yarn that has this much variety in both the color changes and the thickness will provide enough interest on its own, even in a simple garter stitch pattern. |
Below are some garments designed specially for Gusto by Berroco's own design team.
The nature of Gusto lends itself better to loose draping coziness rather than tightly fitting tops.
From left is Wild Violets, a large rectangle shawl knit with an easy-to-memorize lace repeat.
Next is Comfrey, a cozy poncho featuring a fun crossed-stitch pattern.
