Findley, by Juniper Moon Farm
When Susan Gibbs, founder of Juniper Moon Farm, came up from Virginia to join us at Argyle for a yarn tasting last summer, we all got a chance to encounter the luxurious Findley: a lace weight yarn made from 50% silk, 50% merino wool. The silk content makes it smooth and soft, while giving it a beautiful sheen and a depth and richness of jewel tones. One ball contains a generous 798 yards, enough in fact to make a shawl on its own. It has a lovely drape, crisp stitch definition, blocks easily, and it will not split.
The image on the left is a sample of Findley that we have on view right here in Argyle.
The "Fayette" stole features a geometric lace pattern with a scalloped edge.
On the right is a different version of the same scarf.
Below are a few patterns from Juniper Moon's own design team. Many consider the crowning glory of knitting, the best way to display the height of your skills, to be the shawl. Findley is perfect for the crisp, clean, elegant stitches you want to exhibit all of the dedication you've put into a showstopping project.
The "Brandywine" is a rectangular design of geometric lace equally elegant worn as a neck-warming scarf or a shoulder-hugging stole.
The circular shawl "Aerlies" is worked in the round, from the center of the shawl outwards. Each lace section flows into the next with the increase worked into the lace patterns.
And the "Elsa Infinity Scarf" shows off both the bright glowing jewel tones of some of the colors, as well as how many garments can be made with just one ball of Findley.

The "Morning Glory" is a dainty, little open-front cardigan inspired by Jane Austen novels. With a lace body, and stockinette bodice and sleeves, this sweet sweater is a great addition to your wardrobe.
The "Alloy" is a breezy pullover from the Airy Collection, shown here in the color graphite.
Who would have thought that Elbow-Length Lace Gloves could look so chic and modern?
And lastly, the Pella pullover uses Findley in its delicate lace sleeves and side panels, anchored by a stockinette front and back.

Findley Dappled, by Juniper Moon Farm
Findley Dappled is the same yarn as the popular Findley, only with variegated coloring. While some yarns can "pool" in a way where large chunks of the same color tend to band together, Findley Dappled's variations are spread out evenly across the garment.
Here again is a sample sweater we have on view right here at Argyle, paired alongside a different version from the yarn maker's website.
The "Muscari" is a sheer top down raglan jumper with eyelet details and rolled edges, perfect for layers on a cool summer’s evening.
In the "Dyer Brook Blouse," tonal yarn adds subtle depth to a textured lacy top. This blouse is knit in pieces and then seamed, which adds structure and shape.
And in the "Eppler Blouse," a series of yarn overs creates a lacey diamond pattern with a picot edge neck.
The last shapely sweater, "Laureate Cardigan," is knit seamlessly from the bottom up, features elbow-length sleeves, underarm gussets, a welted hem, collar, and plackets, and a leafy lace pattern that runs horizontally from the center back to the right and left front.

The trim, sleeveless "Summerdale" dress is worked seamlessly from the top down using the “contiguous” method. Skirt is lightly pleated, and the waist is cinched with an obi belt.
"Amaranthus" is a romantic handkerchief point skirt made of two layers—an overlay of lace and an underskirt of stockinette with a lace border. The skirt is designed to sit on the hip bones, and the stockinette skirt hangs below the lace one to reveal the contrast color.
Knitting with a lace weight yarn doesn't necessarily mean your project is going to take forever. Here in the "Brindled Wrap," the needle size goes all the way up to a US size seven, giving you as quick results in an airy gauge.
