Riva, by Lang Yarns
Riva is a bright and playful summertime yarn, cool to the touch and cheerful to the eyes.
To get its unique effect, two strands are each spun and dyed separately, one from cotton and the other from synthetic, then both plied together into a DK-weight yarn.
These lively colors are machine-washable, making it a great choice for kids as well.

Here is a delightful top that Esther knit from two balls of Riva color 85, using the pattern "Side to Side Pullover for Girls," by Diane Soucy.
In this super easy pullover for little ones, a simple garter stitch rectangle is made with unshaped openings for head and arms. The neck and side shaping is formed by the drape of the loosely knit fabric.
Surprisingly, the garter stitch runs at a 90º angle from what we're used to, making the stripes run vertically instead of horizontal.
The colors here really look like they're out of an Impressionist painting or a Tiffany glass lamp shade.
The patterns below from Lang's own design team show that Riva is not just for kids' projects, but that it also creates a chic, modern look in women's garments and accessories. This tank top and stole show how the sandy-colored base throughout really ties in and tastefully balances out the surprising bursts of orange, aqua, and hot pink.
These two jackets both give a good idea of how versatile cotton blends can be. Cotton is a classic go-to for warm weather and southern climes but it also has a weight to it, a density, that yields a nice drape for in-between days.
