| But first, a candid word: We never know quite the right tone to take when our folks out west ask how things are holding up over here. Our go-to is to be forward thinking and uplifting, to tell them we'll come out on the other side as well put together as we were before. But sometimes we wonder if we're reassuring them with a picture that's a bit rosier than reality, and remember it's okay to admit we're not 100% sure where we're all going to be in a month, let alone by fall. In a similar way, it's hard sometimes to know what tone to take writing these emails. We know that you are going through at least as bad as what we are, so why type out our insecurities to you? Better to focus on the delight of the crafts we have in common, right? But then, we worry that that sunny tone might come across like: "With all that's going on, and all you guys are thinking about is selling stitch markers?" Here's the conclusion we're coming to: When we (taking turns) go into the (closed and locked) storefront of Argyle, it's like taking a breath of fresh air! Being surrounded by the elegance, beauty, and as-yet unfulfilled potential of all these radiant raw materials looking for a purpose is invigorating. So we hope you will take these emails in that spirit in which we send them: An escape. A getaway, such as it is. A chance to daydream about things we've created in the past and the things we'll make in the future. And a moment of happy distraction via light, color, and creative energy. . .
